“The Edge” Grabs 51st Lincoln Victory

21 team

Brian “The Edge” Montieth cruises to his 51st Lincoln Speedway win. Finishing third in his heat put him in the draw for the feature. During the draw Montieth got lucky number 2 putting him on the outside pole position.

During intermission Fred Putney went to work on the track creating 2 grooves, which made a perfect scenario for a great feature! Although “The Edge” started second, keeping the front running position was challenging. The stacked front two rows made for strong competition for the reigning track champion. In the front two rows were, Krimes, Montieth, Wilt, and Hodnett. Once those four hit lap traffic the race got exciting, Billy Dietrich spun out on lap 12 which caused a caution flag. There was a single file restart giving Montieth a wide open track to run with in order to maintain his lead. Also during the restart, Hodnett passed Krimes for the 2nd place position. Hodnett closed in on Montieth once they hit lap traffic and was close quite a few times to passing him. Ten laps after caution number one, Cole Duncan ran into some power issues causing caution two, with three laps left to go. During the restart Montieth cruised to his 1st win of the 2016 season, followed by Hodnett, Krimes, Fred Rahmer Jr, and to round out the top 5, Adam Wilt.

Congratulations to the #21 team from the Beer Hill Gang!
